On May 8^th, 2009, the Republic of Kosova received the official offer to become the 186^th member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This is yet another critically important achievement for Kosova towards securing global recognition as an independent state. IMF membership is a major step that brings Kosovo closer to its EU membership aspirations.

The U.S., France, Germany, the U.K., and many others pressed hard for Kosovo's IMF membership.  Since the IMF is an international club, membership is an important step for acceptance as a member of the international community. 58 of 192 U.N. member states have recognized Kosovo's independence. Serbia actively opposed Kosova’s membership to the IMF by writing to all of its 185 members urging that they not participate in the voting process, to block its acceptance. 132 countries voted in the process of Kosovo's membership while only 10 out of them voted against Kosovo's membership.

Becoming an IMF member will give Kosovo access to economic aid and entice direct foreign investments. The government plans three major privatizations this year -- a power-station project; the Capital City of Prishtina airport; and postal and telecoms company PTK.

Ne 8 Maj, 2009, Republika e Kosoves mori ftesen zyrtare per tu pranuar si shteti i 186-shte anetar ne Fondin Monetar Nderkombetar (FMN).  Kjo eshte edhe nje arritje e metejshme, teper kritike dhe e rendesishme e Kosoves drejt njohjes se  pergjithsheme nderkombetare si nje shtet I pavarur.  Anetaresimi ne FMN eshte nje hap madhor qe e afron Kosoven me aspiratat e saj per tu anetaresuar ne BE. 

SHBA-ja, Franca, Gjermania, Anglia, dhe shume shtete te tjera insistuan deri ne fund per anetarsimin e Kosoves ne FMN. Per vete faktin qe FMN eshte nje klub i rendesishm nderkombetar, anetaresimi ne te, eshte nje hap i rendesishem per tu pranuar si nje anetar i denje I komunitetit nderkombetar. 58 nga 192 shtete anetare te Kombeve te Bashkuara kane njohur pavarsine e Kosoves. Serbia luftoi ne menyre aktive anetaresimin e Kosoves ne FMN, duke i derguar letra shteteve anetare, per ti  nxitur qe te mos merrnin pjese ne votimn e Kosoves, ne menyre qe Kosova te mos pranohej.  132 vende votuan per anetaresimin e Kosoves ne FMN dhe vetem 10 prej tyre votuan kunder pranimit te  anetaresimit te Kosoves. 

Anetaresimi I Kosoves ne FMN do ti jape Kosoves mundesine e meteper ndihmave ekonomike dhe do te nxise investimet e huaja ne Kosove. Qeveria e Kosoves po planifikon tre privatizime te medha kete vit – Projektin per nje tec te ri Energjitik, Aeroportin e Prishtines, dhe sherbimin postar e telekomin. 

KKSHA-ja uron qeverine e Kosoves dhe Kosovaret per anetaresimin ne FMN!
