The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) congratulates President Barack Obama on his appointment of Mrs. Hillary Clinton as the new US Secretary of State. As former First Lady, New York Senator and Presidential candidate, Mrs. Clinton brings a vast experience in domestic and international affairs. Mrs. Clinton is highly regarded in the US and abroad for her leadership and hard work.
Hillary Clinton has always called for the United States to engage itself in world affairs and has mentioned frequently the American involvement in Kosova and Bosnia as examples of foreign engagements she favored on moral and strategic ground.
Hillary Clinton has played a vital role in the process towards Kosova’s Independence. She was one of the first diplomats to congratulate the newborn State of Kosova, and urged US friends and allies to promptly recognize the independence of Kosova. Additionally, she has been a strong supporter of Albania’s membership into Euro-Atlantic structures and support for the Albanian minorities in Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
“NAAC has enjoyed a close working relationship with Mrs. Clinton and her staff over the years and we look forward to furthering our cooperation” said Avni Mustafaj, NAAC Executive Director. Mrs. Clinton’s appointment was greatly received by the Albanian American community and Albanians throughout the Balkans.
